This standard addresses steam turbine governor controls andoverspeed protection of steam turbine generators in fossil powerplants. Specifically excluded from consideration are single valveand controlled extraction turbines, mechanical drive turbines,automated startup/shutdown systems, turbine supervisoryinstrumentation, steam bypass systems, and turbine water inductionprevention (TWIP) systems.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to establish the minimumrequirements for functional design specifications of steam turbinecontrol systems for use in fossil fueled power generationplants.
