It is not intended to set rigid specifications for materials, fabrication,l pressure rating, and similar points since theseshould ordinarily be in compliance with code requirements which areestablished for the particular industry concerned.
It is recognized that a wide variety of special forms ofchambers, dimensions and operating principles have been recommendby instrument manufacturers, and have been successfully usedthroughout the measurement field. The forms advocated by thisreport, however, are consistent with those available either frommanufacturers or by field fabrication, and are currently used in agreat number of installations. Various more elaborate forms of sealand condensate chamber offer operational advantages, but aredifficult to field-fabricate therefore not considered to be withinthe scope of this report.
PURPOSE
Head-type fluid meter installations will be simplifiedconsiderably by the adoption of uniform practices in thefabrication of their seal and condensate chambers. This uniformitypertains to the over-all dimensions, general arrangement andlocation of connections, and minimum sealing volume required byconventional meters. Pursuant to the adoption of therecommendations contained in this report, all similar types of sealand condensate chambers would be interchangeable with respect toinstallation dimensions, regardless of their source of supply.
