Intent.1
The intent of this test is to mechanically stress theinterconnecting-device-to-fiber-optic-cable-joint in tension. Theresults of this test provide an indication as to the relativestrength of the cable-to-intercnnecting device joint and may alsoindicate degradation resulting from prior environmentalexposure.
Failure Modes. Potential failure modes for thistest includ, but are not limited to:
a. Cable Jacket Damage,
b.Fiber breakage or damage,
c. cable clamp failure,
d. Loss of optical continuity,
f. Failure of fiber-terminus relative to interconnectingdevice.
g. Cable seal damage.
h. Excessive movement of cable/terminus relative tointerconnecting device,
i. Degradation of cable.connector optical trasmissioncharacteristics.
