This Standard provides requirements for establishing classified mounting systems supporting antennas and related appurtenances.
This Standard is intended to provide procedures for the following:
1. Determine the classification of a new mounting system or existing mounting system that was previously designed using this standard.
2. Determine the required mount classification based on defined site criteria.
The loading combinations provided in this Standard specify maintenance loads for certain mount classifications. The requirements for rigging or for climber anchorage are not within the scope of this Standard. All construction activities, including maintenance, associated with a mounting system shall be defined in a rigging plan and shall be in accordance with ANSI/ASSP A10.48, “Criteria for Safety Practices with the Construction, Demolition, Modification and Maintenance of Communication Structures”. A site-specific structural analysis of a mounting system may be required by a Qualified Engineer based on the loads provided in a rigging plan in accordance with ANSI/TIA-322, “Loading, Analysis, and Design Criteria Related to the Installation, Alteration and Maintenance of Communication Structures.”
The determination of strength requirements for a supporting structure including the investigation of local stresses at mounting system connections to the supporting structure are not within the scope of this Standard and shall be investigated in accordance with TIA-222-H-1.
SI units are not included in this standard, due to primary usage of US customary units in the regions covered by this standard.
