PURPOSE AND SCOPE

To develop cabling and component specifications and testprocedures to support the operation of high-speed applications,such as IEEE 802.3an 10GBASE-T, over up to 100 meters of structuredbalanced twisted-pair cabling. This Standard specifies requirementsand recommendations for 100 W 4-pair category 6A cabling, cables,cords, and connecting hardware up to 500 MHz. This Standardincludes extending the frequency range and adding requirements(e.g. alien crosstalk) to those specified in ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2and its addenda.
