General Description
This chapter defines requirements for support of high speedpacket data transmission capability on cdma2000®1 spreadspectrum systems. Packet data transmission is supported on cdma2000Traffic Channels using primary or secondary traffic. For packetdata transmission on traffic channels using Service Option 33 orService Option 66, the Radio Link Protocol Type 3 specified inC.S0017-0-2.10 is used.
This standard specifies a packet data bearer service forcommunication between terminal equipment and a packet data servingnode (PDSN) via a base station/packet control function(BS/PCF).
Packet data service options provide a means of establishing andmaintaining Traffic Channels for packet data service. ServiceOption 33 and Service Option 66 are used to request packet dataservice through a PDSN supporting an Internet standardPoint-to-Point Protocol (PPP) interface to network layer protocols(see 4.1). Additional packet data service options may be defined infuture revisions to select other types of PDSN resources orservices.
