This Standard details definitions, methods of measurement, andminimum performance characteristics for access terminals. ThisStandard shares the purpose of [1] by ensuring that an accessterminal can obtain service in any system that meets thecompatibility requirements of [1].
Compatibility, as used in connection with this Standard and [1],is understood to mean that any access terminal is able to open dataconnections in any HRPD system. Conversely, all HRPD systems areable to open connections with any access terminal.
Test methods are recommended in this document; however, methodsother than those recommended may suffice for the same purpose.
The performance metrics in this Standard require an accessterminal to provide a single antenna connector for testing. Accessterminals having multiple antenna, such as for receive diversity, shall provide a single antenna connector for testing. If an accessterminal has more than one antenna connector, only one connectorshall be used for testing. Additional requirements specifically formultiple antenna configurations, i.e. receive diversity, are forfuture study.
