Some national standard tolerances for cylindrical gears lie in,and even below, the range of instrument measurement uncertainties.This paper presents a concept based on three fundamental goals:reduction of measurement uncertainty, construction ofworkpiece-like standards, and shortening of the traceability chain.One of the focal points is the development of a standard measuringdevice as an additional metrological frame integrated into acoordinate measuring machine.
